Papa's Legacy Foundation

• How We Help•

PLF created the Layeequr Rahman Scholarship Award for College of the Ozarks, aiding the school in its mission to provide an education to students who typically do not have the means to finance higher learning. Each year, one student is selected from a pool of applicants to the scholarship, funded by our initial endowment. PLF reviews all applicants and rewards the student who best shows their commitment to thriving in their pursuit of education.

PLF created the Rahman Leadership Award at Ascension Academy, a scholarship for an elite school in the Amarillo community, available to those students who best displayed integrity and leadership in the classroom.

This is Papa's Legacy

Tap to Learn.

Is there

a need?

There are many students that perceive the task of learning as an externally posed demand. The current economic environment has led many young people to believe that education is unlikely to have an impact on the outcome of their lives. The very value of the task of learning in relation to individual beliefs, ideals, and standards is in question. Finally, the financial burden of education far outweighs the benefits in the minds of many who don't have an immediate need to make ends meet.

The contemporary student is disempowered. The need to re-equip today's students with meaningfulness, competence, impact, and choice - the components of empowerment as described by Thomas and Velthouse - is more than ever. Papa's Legacy Foundation's goal is to reconnect the student body with empowerment through leadership skills training, role modeling, and financial support. We hope that each student that we touch chooses to pay forward in order to keep Papa's legacy alive.

The purpose of PLF is to assist young men and women in leadership development at a personal level, and in navigating the educational system - socially and financially - to make highly effective choices. PLF will engage in various fundraising activities to provide financial assistance for educational and personal development in such a way that people are groomed to pay forward as they succeed.
